CIWA Board of Directors roles and responsibilities:
The Canadian Injured Workers Alliance receives its direction from a national Board of Directors made up of committed individuals from across the country. Their responsibilities include:
- representing the interests of the provinces in CIWA.
- leading CIWA projects taking place in these provinces.
- reporting on CIWA activities at provincial and local injured workers group meetings.
- maintaining a flow of communication between their province and other provinces.
- working towards the formation of a provincial umbrella organization of local groups.
- attending and actively participating in CIWA Board of Directors meetings (once or twice a year, as funding allows) and/or occassional conference calls.
- serving on CIWA sub-committees, for example the Return-to-Work Project Committee, or the Newsletter Committee.
- submitting written (one page) reports to be included in the CIWA quarterly newsletter.
The choice of the representative to the CIWA Board of Directors is in the hands of each provincial organization. Where there is no provincial organization, we look for the local injured workers groups to be involved in choosing their representative and supporting that choice. Currently, we have representatives from Alberta, Newfoundland/Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, and Saskatchewan. If you would like more information on becoming a provincial representative, please contact Bill Chedore, National Coordinator, at Email: ciwa@vianet.ca or basev@hotmail.com
