The Canadian Injured Workers Alliance (CIWA) is pleased to introduce our new National Coordinator, Minerva Porelle who has sat on the CIWA Board for approximately 8 years as an Advisor. Minerva was a proud Nursing Home Worker for 32 years and comes to us from a trade unionist background being very involved in her local union executive and later moving on to be elected as Provincial Secretary Treasurer of both the New Brunswick Council of Nursing Home Unions and the Canadian Union of Public Employees of New Brunswick (CUPE NB), recently retiring in September 2020. Health and Safety and Injured Workers have always been a passion for Minerva having represented her province in many like-minded committees, fighting for legislation changes to the NB Health and Safety Act and sitting as Co-chair on CUPE Nationals Health and Safety Committee. Minerva resides in St Stephen New Brunswick with her family and as CIWA’s National Coordinator is looking forward to continue the fight for respect and dignity for injured workers as well as improving the Occupational Health and Safety of workers across Canada.
