Each year, Ontario’s Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) must have a Value for Money Audit done to evaluate the cost, efficiency and effectiveness of their various programs.
The latest audit looked at dispute resolutions and the appeals process, which was completed by the KPMG. There has been a large outcry since the Value for Money Audit was released. The proposed recommendations, which the WSIB is endorsing, will create total chaos in the system for both the injured and ill workers due to limited timelines.
The WSIB received numerous requests for a public consultation, and in response, they allowed submissions, based on their own questions. Injured workers, injured workers legal clinics and labour collectively forwarded submissions to the WSIB, Minister McNaughton and Premier Ford and the WSIB has promised to post them this fall.
