A delegation from the Republic of Korea (known popularly as South Korea) is visiting Ontario this month. Their focus is on learning about workers’ compensation from occupational disease in Ontario. We’re taking advantage of their visit to hold two events:
– Monday, September 9, 1 – 4:30 pm – WORKERS’ COMPENSATION FOR OCCUPATIONAL DISEASE IN THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA AND ONTARIO – the Korean delegation will present on the situation in their country and then worker representatives from Ontario will present on the history, law reform and policy developments and current issues in our province. – Tuesday, September 17, 7 – 9 pm – THE OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY MOVEMENT IN KOREA: HISTORY AND LESSONS LEARNED – this will be a presentation by Dr. Jeong-ok Kong, a very committed occupational physician and activist, on the impressive work done by the health and safety movement in Korea, what has been accomplished and what remains to be done.
