There have been a number of cases brought forward where injured workers’ compensation claim files contain medical information that not only pertains to their injury but also, in some cases, their complete medical file. When this was brought up with the WSIB, they stated that it occurs because the medical doctor is submitting it but the WSIB then redacts it. The issue was brought forward to the Fair Practices Commission but they will not investigate it at this time as they aren’t finding it to be a big issue.
